Building on piers reduces construction costs and increases the speed of construction

XL-Floor insulated flooring is a perfect solution when building on undulating ground. Cutting out a block can add tens of thousands of dollars to the construction cost so a pier system used in tandem with XL-Floor is an ideal solution. The pier system reduced costs significantly by reducing the cost to cut the block and reducing the concrete slab costs.

Built by Jarrad Otterspoor XL-Floor was chosen to provide thermal insulation from the underside of the house. The home owners have commented on the thermal differential between the uninsulated downstairs and the living space upstairs. The upstairs living area is significantly more thermally comfortable for the home owners.

XL-Floor insulated flooring

XL-Floor insulated flooring was the product of choice for this 2 story project in Rostrevor. The builder has found it quick and easy to install. The panels are approximately 50% lighter than AAC products and due to the large format panels they are quicker to lay. Another feature is that the panels do not need to be joined on joist reducing waste and increasing installation times.

XL-Insulated flooring provides a flat and robust flooring surface.

Unlike AAC panels such as Hebel, XL-Floor provides an excellent flooring finish allowing final finishes such as carpet, tiles, linoleum, timber etc. to be laid directly on the floor without further remediation such as grinding or adding a substrate. XL-Floor provides a solid feel for a floor, it does not crack or get soft when exposed to water during the build.

XL-Floor can be built with load bearing walls allowing the floor to run through to the external wall or can be fitted within the wall frame. XL-Floor provides exceptional thermal and acoustic insulation ratings. XL-Floor panels can be fixed in many configurations that would not previously be possible. The SHIPLAP joint provides the most efficient installation and retains the rigidity of the system even with off-joist jointing.

Off-joist panel jointing completely removes the requirement for cutting back flooring substrates to end-meet on a joist. This not only saves material and the environment, but also saves time and labour costs.

Starting at the corner of a room, the SHIP LAP joint system reduces installation time, and hence significantly reduces the total material and install cost per square metre.

The process of laminating the componentry together, combined with the proprietary, independently certified jointing systems means that XL-Floor can achieve improved performance benefits over other comparable products available.

XL-Floor standard panel size is 2400x1100mm and 75mm thick, weight 63kg per panel.
